Dehradun: Cricket is a sport that makes a lot of noise in India. This game is like a religious symbol for the Indian fans. Uttarakhand who was knocking domestic cricket affiliation door from 18 years. In 2018 BCCI granted affiliation to Uttarakhand cricket and formed the Uttarakhand cricket census committee. This year brought a lot of good memories for Uttarakhand cricket.
Saurabh Rawat of the most dependable batsman of the UttarakhandCricket team had smashed a double hundred against Sikkim in the season (20 November to 23 November). He became the first batsmen for the state to score a double hundred. Saurabh has had a Ranji Cricket experience before he joined the Uttarakhand cricket team. The boy from Haldwani was selected in Orissa Ranji Team in the 2016 season. Saurabh had a wonderful campaign in the 2018-19 season. He scored three hundred and 2 fifty in his first appearance for the Uttarakhand state in Ranji Trophy. Saurabh always focuses on positive things.
Saurabh after this record-making performance said I play keeping situation and condition in my mind. I am not a player who thinks a lot between the innings. My start was not good but I ended my season with good touch. Moreover, my innings helped the team to win and it couldn’t be better than this. Like previous season Saurabh looked good in this present one too. Blasting innings of 20 balls 45 runs against Assam in Vijay Hazare and 70 runs against Baroda in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy would have increased his confidence before Ranji Season.
For Uttrakhand, this Ranji season is going to test their bench strength. Uttarakhand players have shown a high standard whenever they stepped into the ground. Table topper of the 2018 plate group will be playing in the Elite group this year. Uttarakhand will start their campaign against Jammu Kashmir on 9 December.
