Sangita left her job, a startup for the fight against single-use plastic

Dehradun: Single-use plastic topic is most popular when India discusses pollution. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started this campaign on 2nd October. Life without single-use plastic is difficult but we should try to use it less says Sangita Thapliyal of Dehradun. She has started a unique way to inspire people to minimize the use of single plastic. During our visit to the temple, most of us use polythene for carrying pooja material. Here, Sangita takes sardius as single-use plastic. She thinks this sardius is thrown into the river which gets polluted by such action. Sangita has left her government job for this campaign against polythene.

Sangita says this sardius doesn’t come in second-time use. If we use cotton sardius then, it can be used in making after the first use. She says these clothes can be given to the needy one. She blames plastic for increasing pollution in the holy rivers of the state. I take this work as worship only. Sangita left her job and started working on her startup. She is giving employment to 6 women.

On this Sangita said, in the stop center, women suffering from criminal incidents were kept. They get legal, medical and educational support but not employment. This forced her to start her own work, which will provide work to the women. For the use of cotton sardius, she contacted Rishikesh Ganga Seva Samithi, Kedarnath, and Badrinath Temple. They have shown a positive response. If this starts in these holy placees then it will bring a huge change in society.
