Lack of practice and overconfidence is a result of Uttarakhand collapse

Haldwani: Every day is new on the cricket field. Players look to improve from their mistake but this theory doesn’t apply to Uttarakhand Cricket Team. Another collapse in Ranji Trophy against Orrisa says it all. In this season Uttarakhand batsmen did not cross 150 runs mark in first innings. 84 runs against Jammu, 107 against Chattisgarh and 117 against Orrisa. There are few batsmen, getting starts but they are converting that into big ones. Only Dikshanshu Negi is performing in every innings. Senior sports journalist Gaurav Agarwal talked with Haldwanilive and share his view on Uttarakhand’s poor performance in this season.

We knew they are playing in the Elite group which is tougher than last year’s Plate group. It will take time for them to cement their identity in the domestic circuit. This year player seems to in overconfidence. They have forgotten that last year they played with clubs like teams. Can anyone tell what players did after the season got over? How they were preparing for the new season? It seems that they aren’t prepared for the Elite group. People would say, they don’t have an association last year but this not the way you make team. I remembered Uttarakhand’s performance against champions Vidharbha…

They played like a mature team but this doesn’t see one percent of that performance. Team management should talk to Unmukt Chand and Karanvir Kaushal. Both batsmen failed to get runs. If Uttarakhand wants to change their fortune in this season, they should take a strong call on playing 11 otherwise we will see them playing again in Plate group in the next season. Being a cricket fan I want my team to improve but up till now, Uttarakhand team performance is going down rather than improving.
