Delhi blames crackers and CM blames farmers for pollution

New Delhi: After Diwali, Delhi has become a gas chamber. Crackers and Parali smoke affecting Delhi/NCR people’s health. Pollution control body mandated by the Supreme Court has declared an emergency in Delhi and nearby areas. With this effect, the Delhi government has announced holidays in all schools till November 5. Delhi government has also requested all the academies to stop all outdoor activities and sports till November 5 to minimize exposure of children to pollution.

The Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) has also banned construction activity till November 5 as the pollution level in the region entered the “severe-plus” or “emergency” category late Thursday night, the first time since January. The pollution authority has also banned the bursting of crackers during the winter season.

Now a big question arises why the government act after the loss. Before Diwali, lots of campaigns we’re running on social media against crackers and awaking the government to look after the dangerous surrounding of Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal targets Punjab and Haryana farmers for this, as the case of parali burning has increased. He says parali (  burn crop stubble ) smoke is creating a problem in Delhi. I and my cabinet members have written letters to Punjab and Haryana government to look after on this farmer’s act.

Delhi Government may opt for the odd-even option if air quality doesn’t improve from the “severe-plus” category says an official.
